Sketchup and Community Activism

This was a Sketchup modeling exercise that was used to illustrate the impact of a proposed boat launch on Hood Canal in Washington States Puget Sound waterway. The new launch was to replace the aging "at grade" boat launch which is operated by the State of Washington. The proposed new elevated structure was to be built in the same location but had not been designed for this specific site and neglected to consider the significant impact to the local community and current public access. 3D modeling was a great tool to illustrate to the community and to the state the true and full impact of the proposed boat launch on the beach as well as to the to boaters who enjoy the beach access and would be negatively impacted by this large structure.
